Mead, the legendary drink made from honey is one of the earliest alcholic drinks made by mankind. The Bushman people of Southern Africa are known to have enjoyed mead traditionally fermented with specially chosen herbs and roots. Mead and its varients (hydromel and metheglin) were appreciated and highly prized during the times of the Egyptian, Greek, Roman and other great ancient empires.
For the past ten years Dominique Marchand, of Honeybee Foundation & Products. has produced a fine dry and off-dry mead with an alcohol content of 11.5%. Made from the best quality South African honey the mead is oak matured. This beverage is also known to some as "med" or "honey wine". The mead Dominique produces is Kosher, and it is at it's best when chilled.
Our Honey Liqueur is a sweet, aromatic cocktail or after-dinner drink made with finest quality South African honeys. Alcohol content is 24%.
The Honey Beer is a dark bitter-sweet invigorating brew. The alcohol content is 7%. It is available in 375ml glass bottles.
The Honeybee Kitchen produces the following range of honey sweets and confectionary (Kosher):

South
Africa is home to two sub-species of honeybees. Apis mellifera (A.m.)
scuttelata, the African bee, also known as "the killer bee," and the
world renowned A.m. capensis. The unique quality for which capensis is known is
the ability of their unfertilized laying workers to lay fertilized eggs, without
having been mated, and thus reproduce a queen bee.
Specialized tours for groups are organized by ourselves and leading travel agents. We cater for beekeepers and bee enthusiasts who wish to follow the "Bee Route" to experience Africa her bees and her wildlife.

The tours are flexible and can include any of the following:
